Concert Commentary

Concert Commentary is an opportunity to enhance the classical concert experience with a personal introduction to the music. One hour before each classics concert, the concert's conductor gives a behind-the-scenes peek at the evening's music. Concert Commentary is held in Popejoy Hall, and at the NHCC, and is free.

Symphony 101

Symphony 101 is an adult education course presented by the Education Committee of the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra. This is a perfect primer for those interested in becoming more familiar with the world of classical music. Featured lecturer, Artemus Edwards, music professor emeritus, University of New Mexico, will offer three sessions discussing listening to classical music. Guest lecturers will offer performances, historical insights, and personal experiences all helping to demystify classical music. A special seventh meeting will include a visit to a New Mexico Symphony Orchestra rehearsal where students will observe the dynamics and interaction of the preparation process. Symphony 101 is an interesting introduction that will add to the experienced listener's enjoyment as well.
