Debra Taylor
Debra Taylor is the Principal Trombonist with the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, and teaches trombone and chamber music at the University of New Mexico. Ms. Taylor grew up in rural New York State, and received her formal training at the renowned Curtis Institute of Music.
Her artistry has taken her from an appearance at Carnegie Hall, with the New York Trumpet Ensemble, to featured solo performances at the International Trombone Festival, International Brassfest, International Women’s Brass Conference, and Big Twelve Trombone Conference. She was the soloist for two recent world premiers at the John Donald Robb Composers’ Symposium.
Ms. Taylor has held positions with Chicago’s Grant Park Symphony, the San Diego Symphony, the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra, and the Florida Symphony. Ms. Taylor has taught master classes in Beijing, China, at several international brass festivals, and at universities nationwide. She has written articles about pedagogy and orchestral playing for the International Trombone Journal. Ms. Taylor is a clinician for the Edwards Instrument Company.
