JOB TITLE: Box Office Manager, New Mexico Symphony Orchestra
REPORTS TO: Vice President of Marketing
SUPERVISES: Assistant Box Office Manager, Box Office and Telemarketing Staff
JOB SUMMARY
The Box Office Manager, who is responsible for all aspects of the daily box office and telemarketing operations, will be a strong and positive participant in the management of the NMSO to help ensure that the organization meets or exceeds its objectives, year to year.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations of the Box Office
- Ensure department provides exceptional customer service at all times, by phone, fax, in writing and face to face with patrons, donors, board members and others who require tickets, whether paid or complimentary.
- Ensure that Box Office executes all transactions, (including telemarketing sales) in an accurate and fully reconciled manner within time frames defined by marketing and financial management.
- Train, involve and motivate staff to understand, embrace and positively reflect the objectives and mission of the organization both internally and externally.
- Hire full and part time Box Office staff in consultation with VP, Marketing.
- Manage staff scheduling, including overtime hours, in a cost efficient manner.
- Evaluate Box Office staff ongoing and as part of the NMSO's quarterly goals review process.
- Participate in ongoing budget management process, providing current and historical reports and initial analysis (on Excel or otherwise) of ticket sales figures by subscriber and single ticket categories as required.
- Develop event seating charts and pricing scales.
- Maintain internal database to track subscriptions and event ticket sales.
- Prepare daily bank deposits and daily sales reports for VP, Finance.
Telemarketing/Inside Sales
- Take a proactive role in managing the NMSO's telemarketing operation in consultation with VP, Marketing.
- Be available to callers each shift for consultation and clarification of seating, re-seating, pricing, and other issues.
- Ensure systems are in place and operating smoothly to successfully and accurately collect and integrate telemarketing sales data into the overall system.
- With Finance, ensure systems are in place and operating efficiently to pay the telemarketers hourly and commission income on an agreed schedule.
Hours
Expect to work non-traditional hours required by box office and telemarketing operations.
Experience Required
2-3 years experience as Box Office Manager in a professional box office/ticketing operation or demonstrably strong experience as Assistant Box Office Manager.
In addition, the ideal candidate will have experience with Ticketmaster, performance settlement and inventory management, and managing multi-site locations. He/she will have strong analytical and problem solving skills, excellent communication and people-management skills. He/she must be skilled in Windows based programs including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.

Clarinet III/Bass Clarinet (Tenure Track Position)
Audition Date: June 24, 2008
Basic Level - $112.04 per service for 144 guaranteed services (Minimum salary: $16,133.76)
NMSO Season - September 1 through May 31.
- 3 weeks off for Christmas and New Year's Holidays; additional week off in the March/April timeframe

- Health insurance: contribution of $2,750 per year toward coverage(s) elected by player
- Instrument insurance up to a total instrument value of $35,000 provided at no cost to orchestra member
- Personal service absences granted each year: 6
- Paid sick leave: 6 days per year
- 4% of salary contributed by NMSO to AFM pension
